New firmware updater this week
Thomas just wrote the following in the comments on his blog, letting us know that their new firmware updater, which will be easier to use and should work perfectly on all versions of Microsoft Windows, will become available this week.
The new updater is already working but we need to make a few more tweaks. In worst case I will release it as it is so everybody should get a new fw this week.
This does not only mean that all fresh CSR Elite Wheel owners will be able to flash their new wheels with the latest firmware version very soon, but also that Fanatec will probably finally release their latest "standard" CSR Wheel firmware publicly. That would mean that everyone would finally be able to update their CSR Wheels and get rid of the issues caused by the firmware that came installed originally.

csr elite wheel
I have upgraded to csr elite wheel,and since that my break pedal on my clubsports is very weak and gets worse the more you play. when you disconnect the pedals at the adaptor and reconnect it, it work fine for a abit then gets worse again, this is on gt5 it also affects forza 4 but not as bad, can anybody help.

A golden rule of thumb for marketing states "under-promise and over-deliver" to the customer. Imho Fanatec has do the whole thing in the case of the new product line, a bit to the opposite direction.
next gen consoles
ok here is one for you,
i just spend 500+ dollars in euro's and bought a fanatec csr kit.
does anyone knows or this wheel will work with xbox 720 or whatever its name is, in 2013?
i didn't spend so much money to use it only one year and then let it eat dust somewhere.
as i see it, Micro$oft wants all the $$ in the world an they make you buy a new wheel when the new console is out. if so, i will never buy a xbox again.
people who has g25 and 27 can use the thing on the ps3 and ps2. probably also ps4.

Who told you about a new Xbox in 2003? Even Microsoft does not know or tell anything about it and we knew facts about the Xbox 360 years before it was released.

i will be a very happy man if my wheel is good for next 2-3 years. if you Google you will see people saying 2013-2014 are the new consoles arrive.

To be honest thinking about the "next" Xbox was the furthest from my mind when purchasing the CSR Elite and until i have the "next" Xbox in my hands i am not going to worry about connectivity for something that is still a fiction.
People have what the now but are worrying about the future, worry about just now and enjoy your CSR Elite.

....This was a breeze!!! Like walking through the park. What are these guys crying about? Impressive piece of equipment, not for the faint of heart. THIS IS PRO GRADE MACHINERY AT IT'S FINEST!!!!

Fanatec Updater
When i updated the CSR Elite to 715 i had to switch off the Elite between the finish of Step 1 and start of Step 2.
But before starting Step 2 start the Elite in bootloader mode again and Step 2 should complete, wheel will restart, confirming Firmware has updated.
The above Step worked for my problem of bootloader not recognising wheel after Step 1 and before Step 2.
I ran in XP mode within Win 7 Premium, direct to motherboard USB port also recommended.
Fanatec at least have made an improvement with the bootloader over last version although if you are having problems it will work, it just requires some fiddling.
CSR Elite first installation & update of firmware
Hello Sonac and all watchers,
I received my CSR E today and tried to update the firmware, but it seems that it has not worked ! At the end, the wheel should have restart automaticaly but nothing happened.
For now I haven't restart the wheel since the failed updating. What do you advise me to do ?

You first need to press "Start" once, then let it do it's thing (erase firmware I think), after that you need to power off the wheel and turn it back on (WARNING: TURN IT ON DIRECTLY INTO BOOTLOADER MODE!) and press "Start" again. Firmware should get installed and wheel should automatically reboot at the end. Did you do so?

Yes, that is normal. Make sure to continue pressing the Xbox button for about 3 more seconds after the light on the button goes on to make sure that the wheel fully engages bootloader mode to flash the update.
My csr elite arrived today
My csr elite arrived today and updating the firmware was easy. My wife said to (before I used it) me what's better about that wheel over the old one (gt2) I couldn't but think apart from the build quality and the paddles I don't really know. Then I tried it. It really is in a completely different league to any Logitech or fanatec wheel before it. It is absolutely incredible to use.

All this talk about udating firmware, has got me a bit nervous. I am not savvy with pc procedures. I hope Thomas can make a easy to understand video or text to help noobs like myself. The one thing I do feel comfortable about is Fanatec has always been there for me, and has been outstanding in their CS. Always polite, patient and prompt...at least in my case.

Good news on a new updater, the old way of updating a Fanatec Firmware was fiddly and vague for most users. Heck was even fiddly and vague when you knew what you were doing.
Anyways good to see Fanatec progress and hopefully make it easier for all users to experience racing games on all platforms.

i read the manual to update the Elite. It says, that you can deactive the fan. but the fan is temperature controlled. does that mean AFTER the FW update you have to DEactivate the fan so that the fan is in temperature controlled mode. is the fan at this time only active if the wheel is too warm? is it possible to leave the fan "ON" (because the noise doesnt disturb me) don`t want to kill the wheel by putting the fan "OFF"

"ON" which is always on in low speed but it can speed up if it is necessary
...or...
"OFF" which means the fan is off when you start it but it may start automatically and switch to low speed or high speed if necessary.
